 Sean McCarthy is an experienced executive recruiting and career consultant placing public accounting professionals with a variety of Los Angeles area CPA firms. As President of JM&A, Mr. McCarthy is responsible for marketing and sales. He developed this thriving practice by focusing on the fundamentals of job search and produced a series of useful tools to help candidates as well as employers better understand the changing job market. Mr. McCarthy has many years of outplacement experience working with Drake Beam Morin, a national employment consulting firm.
Mr. McCarthy sees many challenges ahead for his client companies and his candidates. Many of his client companies are facing an uncertain future as Sr. Partners prepare for retirement and transition to new management. That is why JM&A has partnered with several well known consultants able to help with change management issues. Mr. McCarthy also recognizes that many quality CPAs born overseas need assistance with language skills to reach their full potential. To meet this communication challenge, JM&A has associated itself with a dynamic group of language specialists who will help foreign language speakers converse in English with greater confidence.
In 1994 Mr. McCarthy was appointed by Mayor Richard Riordan to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Citizens' Advisory Committee and then to the Greek Theater Advisory Committee in 1996. He serves on the board of directors of the Woodland Hills - Tarzana Chamber of Commerce and the United Chambers Of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley. In addition Mr. McCarthy is an elected member of the Woodland Hills / Warner Center Neighborhood Council.
Mr. McCarthy graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1976 with a BA in Philosophy. He subsequently earned a law degree in 1986 from the University of La Verne College of Law.
